I decided to get the Sony CDX-CA750X. The price is right and it has several excellent options. It came with a free pair of JBL 4 1/2" speakers so I decided to install them in the rear side panels. I also installed a set of tweeters in the front. The tweeters, to my surprise, sound really good. I got the idea from another webpage.

This deck is very impressive.I'm not sure how to use all the functions yet but I'll get it.
JBL 4 1/2" Installed very easily and sound pretty good. I plan to replace them with Sony.
I found these tweeters at a local stereo shop. $30. cdn. I drilled the holes with the molding installed. It was alot easier than trying to remove the whole thing. They installed in 10 min.
I also replaced the factor speaker wire long ago. To run the wire to the door speakers I drilled a hole in the wire harness connectors where there wasn't any wires. This way it keeps it clean and dry.

Next week I'm getting my new deck. I'm not sure what I should get. It is a toss-up between Sony CDX750 or the Clarion 515. Next Friday I'll be posting the new pics.
I started off with used equipment to find out what I like and need.
My brother gave me his Kenwwod deck(25x4). It was lacking power so I got a Kenwood amp(160watt) from my cousin to power the speakers. The factory speakers were not keeping up so I eventually bought 6x9 Sony Xplod's for the rear and 5 1/4's for the front. The rear speakers are supposed to be 5x7's but I like 6x9's better so I had to make mounting brackets in the trunk. The only problem is that I'm loosing sound quality because of rigidity. My plans are to design a speaker unit to replace the rear window shelf with a more rigid design.
